Thursday: He Washed Their Feet
Some days are so significant that they affect every day that follows. It is not an exaggeration to say that the most consequential days in human history happened in what is called Holy Week or Passion Week, the final days of Jesus before He was crucified and rose from the dead.
Jesus knew His “hour” had arrived. None of this took Him by surprise. He knew that He had come into the world for the purpose of going to the cross…that He would rise from the dead, and then ascend to His Father in heaven and leave His followers to carry on His mission.
It was time. The date on the calendar for Jesus to do what He had come into this world to do had finally arrived, and He was ready for it. He did not try to escape it – He faced it in order to save us.
Yet before the chaos started, Jesus took time to serve His disciples in a way that demonstrated His servant heart and His love for them. Please find John 13:1-17.
