Learning to Trust

As we look at Exodus 15, we find the Israelites having a victory party after their amazing rescue at the Red Sea – the epic display of the Lord’s mighty power. The Lord had led them out of Egypt and into an impossible place where they had no escape from the Egyptians that were pursuing them with their chariots and their army. But then the Lord did something no one expected. He opened up the Red Sea and created a highway on the seabed for over 2 million Israelites to walk to safety, between walls of water on each side. Then He closed up the sea on their enemy. It was a total victory!

After that great miracle, they stood on the seashore as a free people, and they sang and danced and praised the Lord for it. But they were about to learn that it’s one thing to stand in the afterglow of a miracle and praise the Lord, but it is something altogether different to trust the Lord in your daily walk and for your daily needs.

And they were were about to learn that the way we make progress in our faith is through what the Bible calls testing. Let's see how the Lord’s testing works, and how He teaches us to trust Him through the testing.
